Tom & hen

Tom & hen

A couple of turkeys by the side of the road not far from home. We see them here pretty regularly as they come up from the woods in the late afternoon. I was in the van with the kids when I came upon these two and got them with the point & shoot through the open window. The toms can look so majestic when they are presenting for the hens. Yes, this was considered for the national bird before they decided on the bald eagle instead.

I wanna rock

I wanna rock

There's a nice big rock for sitting on just at the edge of our property along the creek. We like to go here and sit and watch the wildlife in the backyard. You can almost make out the boundaries of the creek through the trees to the left, and it opens up to a much wider area behind the camera to the left rear.

Apple blossoms

The apple trees are about to spring forth with their flower blossoms.

Return of geese and goslings

Return of geese and goslings

The geese have returned with their young. Only two little ones this year... I hope they make it! I think they started off with five young ones last year.

I spotted them for the first time today as I was looking out the bedroom window. They slipped away while I was getting the camera but after a short walk through the woods I found them slipping further down the pond.

As I learn more about photography I'm starting to recognize the limitations of my equipment. I shot this with my 55-200mm lens stretched all the way out and I was a little surprised at how soft the birds looked even though they were the focus point. Ah well... a little sharpness filter, a slight crop, convert the RAW to JPG and here they are!

Hungry Visitors

Hungry Visitors

They paid a visit to our back yard to help themselves to a little snack. This was taken through a window in the house, so not the best quality, but I wanted to capture them anyway.

Looking to re-locate to Westford

Hello Westford! My family and I currently live in CT (we have two young boys) but are potentially looking at re-locating to Westford, MA to be closer to family. To help us get back to MA, my husband and I have been exploring opening a pre-school that offers extended hours (7AM-6PM) in Westford that would serve children ages 6 wks to 6 years. The school is part of a larger, national organization that offers a strong curriculum in a fun, play based environment. Unfortunately because we are in the… Continue

I am looking for other families with children of the age of 11. My daughter needs som…

Cancer Survivors in Westford (and surrounding Areas)

I have lived in Westford all my life and know that we are a tight knit community as until recently (past 10 years) we didn't have a lot of things nearby and possibly still don't...and one thing I have noticed are support groups for various things - and in this case for Cancer Survivors aren't prominently advertised - everything seems to be word of mouth.

On Friday June 8th, 2007 - there will be an American Cancer Society event called "Relay for Life" happening at the Westford Academy Tr… Continue

westford children

I honestly do not know where to begin. I have recently moved to Westford. My husband and I are city kids. Things now a days just aren't the same where we grew up. So, we decided to find a great place to continue raising our children, Westford. Well, so I thought. My question to you is a simple one, "Do you teach your children to welcome new kids, or do you even talk to your kids about making the new kids feel welcome?" I have never seen children so mean. I wish for one minute you could come into… Continue

Bathroom Contractor

Anyone have a recommendation for a good contractor that specializes in bathrooms (or at least includes them as a focus)? We've got a bit of an overhaul coming up and would appreciate someone we could trust to do a good job at a reasonable price.

Thanks in advance.
